Old Oak Common Station – Concrete Cutting

Location: Old Oak Common, London
Main Contractor: BBVS
Client: HS2
Sector: Infrastructure, Rail

The HS2 Old Oak Common Station is a new super-hub set to be the best-connected and largest new railway station ever built in the UK. Expected to complete between 2029 and 2032, it will service both high speed and conventional rail networks.

Kilnbridge were awarded the concrete cutting package for any adhoc works that would arise during the course of the project.

In May 2024, our Concrete Cutting and Controlled Demolition business was contracted to remove defective concrete from within a 1.50m diameter plunge column 4m high.  This appointment was due to our use of hydrodemolition techniques and capabilities, allowing for precision targeted removal of concrete with minimal damage to surrounding structural features. The high concentration of reinforcement would have made it difficult to remove the concrete within the centre of the column through any other methodology. Through expert delivery, the reinforcement and couplers were left entirely undamaged.

While a small package in isolation, our appointment was due to existing trust and quality from an existing relationship and is testament to the partnership approach and depth of specialist support we can deploy at short notice to meet client requirements.
